Was media really “in the tank” with Obama?

Or perhaps reality has a liberal bias.

Diogenes: I think McCain ran such a bad campaign that alot of people hit their saturation point.

This is probably the reason people view the media as “in the tank” for Obama.

McCain ran an abysmal campaign at a time when the GOP was already up against the wall waiting for the firing squad. And, given the calculated and smooth campaign that Obama ran, McCain’s campaign looked absolutely pitiful.

It wasn’t that the media was only reporting the good things about Obama…it was just that the bad things from McCain were so unbelievably awful…everything else fell by the wayside.

Not to mention that there was a period of 5-10 months where the media was absolutely BRUTAL with Obama. They kept bringing controversy after controversy: Rezko, Wright, Ayers, his “inexperience”, his “crazy” stance on ending the Iraq war, his atheism, his fathers atheism, his muslim roots, etc etc.

This dominated the news cycle for months. When the primaries ended and the general election began, everyone who hadn’t been paying attention suddenly assumed that the Media was going easy on Obama because they refused to bring up all these ridiculous allegations again.

I will honestly have to thank Hillary Clinton for Obama’s victory. It was a hard fought battle, but if she hadn’t churned up so much mud, there would have been much more the GOP could have used as an “October Surprise”.

By the time the primary cycle ended, it was all old hat.

On the other hand, the media went very easy on McCain–and no one noticed. They didn’t mention his military history (unless it was on a positive note). They never mentioned his educational record, the skipped over his first wife and his black children. They didn’t mention his mob ties, the fact that he cheated on his faithful wife (while she was crippled in the hospital, no less). They never mentioned that Reagan *hated* McCain almost until his deathbed for what he did to his wife. They never mentioned that Ross Perot paid all of his first wife’s medical bills when he couldn’t afford it. McCain never repaid a dime.
